This 6-inch pleco from Trinidad represents a young specimen with significant growth potential. Plecos are hardy bottom-dwellers that thrive in established tanks with moderate to strong water flow and plenty of hiding spaces among driftwood, caves, and dense vegetation.

Tank requirements: minimum 75 gallons for a juvenile, though mature specimens benefit from 125+ gallons as they can reach 12–18 inches depending on species. Maintain water temperature between 72–82°F with a pH of 6.5–7.5 and moderate hardness. Plecos are nocturnal and relatively peaceful, making them excellent community tank inhabitants alongside reef fish and invertebrates.

Diet: plecos are primarily herbivorous and algae-grazers. Supplement with quality sinking pellets, blanched vegetables like zucchini and spinach, and spirulina wafers. Feed 2–3 times weekly in established systems with stable algae growth. Avoid overfeeding, as uneaten food degrades water quality.

Care notes: perform 25–30% weekly water changes and ensure robust filtration with low light cycles to prevent excessive algae blooms.
