Cherry Barbs are peaceful, schooling fish best kept in groups of 6 or more. They thrive in planted tanks with plenty of hiding spaces and prefer water temperatures between 72–78°F with a pH of 6.0–7.0.
These omnivorous fish accept high-quality flake food, micro pellets, and frozen foods like brine shrimp and bloodworms. Feed small amounts twice daily.
Cherry Barbs are excellent community tank mates. They coexist well with other peaceful species including tetras, rasboras, corydoras catfish, and small plecos. Avoid pairing with large predatory fish or aggressive species. They may nip at slow-moving fish with long fins, so tank mates should be active swimmers.
Provide moderate lighting and regular water changes to maintain water quality. These hardy fish are ideal for beginners and add vibrant red coloration to any aquarium setup.
